Wagner (Coil), Ellen

Unknown Plot
b. 1846-May-24, Indiana, USA
d. 1915-May-06, Empress, AB

Unmarked grave, unknown plot.

The Empress Cemetery at its current location was approved 1914-Nov-18, the land was granted to the Village of Empress on 1915-Jul-08, and recordings of burials in this cemetery started in March 1916.  Thus, it is unlikely she was buried in this cemetery.  There was probably another "Empress Cemetery", closer to Empress, before the establishment of the current one, but it is not known where it was/is.

     OBITUARY
     ---
Ellen Coil was born in Indiana, May 24th, 1846, and departed this life May 6th, 1915, aged 68 years, 11 months, 12 days.  In early childhood she removed to Ohio, where she resided until moving to Canada in 1912.  She was married to A. L. Wagner Dec. 26, 1866.  To this union were born four children, Clyde E., Lola M., Earl H. and Alta M., now Mrs. Charles Ward, all at present residing near Empress.
She united with the United Brethren Church at the age of fourteen, and remained a faithful, earnest church and Sunday School worker until failing health prevented its continuance.  She was a woman of untiring energy, and never wearied in deeds of sacrifice and devotion to her family and friends.
She was an invalid the last five years of her life, but was ever patient through all her affliction.  She made many true friends during her residence her last summer and the short time she was here this spring, who mourn her loss and extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
Rev. J. M. Waggett officiated at the funeral services, held at the home of her son Clyde, with whom she has been staying since her return from Medicine Hat.
Interment took place in the Empress cemetery, Sunday p.m. May 9th.
